The Hobby Aerodrome Disaster was a hull loss of 1 experimental aircraft on December 16, 2013 due to hijacking on ground. The one responsible, Chuck Walnut, was detained after landing and sentenced to life. On December 16, 2013, the HBW Experimental aircraft sat on the tarmac of Hobby Aerodrome, needing installation of a transmitter, until Chuck Walnut, aged 3, hijacked and took off without ATC clearance from Ron, the ATC man at the time. The plane was circling, until 2:18 PM, where Walnut was arrested, and the plane was recovered.
